history 2023

ARCADIA SHIPMANAGEMENT CO. LTD
was established in Athens in 1998 with a clear strategic goal - "the safe transportation of cargoes worldwide with respect to the environment". Initially the Company assumed the management of two different types of vessels (dry and wet) but at a later stage ARCADIA, realizing the increased demands and responsibilities of the current times, focused its activities on tanker management.

Following the Company’s establishment in 1998, an ambitious investment program began with the construction of high specification aframax and suezmax tankers, in South Korean Yards, on behalf of Companies that had entrusted the management of their vessels to ARCADIA.

THE EARLY YEARS

In September 1999, ARCADIA took delivery of the first aframax tanker of 105,000 dwt named “AEGEAN PRIDE”, from Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea. The second sister ship, “AEGEAN LEGEND” was delivered by the same shipyard, in April 2000, and was consecrated by His Holiness Bartholomew, the Ecumenical Patriarch of the Orthodox Church.

In 2003, a further five technologically advanced tankers were delivered from Hyundai Heavy Industries, namely “AEGEAN FREEDOM”, “AEGEAN FAITH”, “MARATHA” (all aframax tankers of 105.000 dwt each), and “AEGEAN EAGLE” and “AEGEAN LADY” (both suezmax tankers of 165,000 dwt each).

In 2004, two more suezmax tankers, “AEGEAN ANGEL” and “AEGEAN DIGNITY” (both of 159.000 dwt each), were delivered by Hyundai Heavy Industries.

FLEET GROWTH

In 2006 and 2007 the shipbuilding programme was continued with the delivery of two suezmax and five aframax tankers, from Hyundai Heavy Industries and Samsung Heavy Industries respectively.

The Aframax tankers from Samsung, the first, “AEGEAN MYTH” was delivered in August 2006, the second, “AEGEAN POWER” in April 2007, the third, “AEGEAN HARMONY” in July 2007, the fourth, “AEGEAN NOBILITY” in August 2007 and the fifth, “AEGEAN BLUE” in November 2007. All the above sister vessels are of 105000 dwt capacity.

The suezmax tankers from Hyundai, “AEGEAN NAVIGATOR” and “AEGEAN HORIZON” (both of 159,000 dwt each) were delivered in June and August 2007 respectively.

After nine years, since Company’s last fleet expansion, ARCADIA SHIPMANAGEMENT undertook a new shipbuilding program, which included four (4) innovative and energy efficient SUEZMAX vessels, featuring state of the art equipment, high quality material and facilities, powered by the latest technology engines and components, registered under the Classification Society ABS (American Bureau of Shipping).

On May 2016 M/T “AEGEAN MARATHON” was delivered, followed by M/T “AEGEAN UNITY” on June 2016, M/T “AEGEAN DREAM” on August 2016 and the shipbuilding program was concluded with the delivery of M/T “AEGEAN VISION” on May 2017. All vessels are flying the Hellenic flag and were built at the state-of-the-art facilities of Hyundai Heavy Industries.
