MT Aegean Pride (IMO No. 9200952) Refugees Recovery

Statement at Sea

The Liberian tanker Aegean Pride (IMO#9200952) during her voyage from Mellitah, Lybia to Trieste, Italy in loaded condition and while at position 33 56N/013 15E, on October 15th at 16:24 hrs lt ordered from MRCC Rome acting on behalf of Lybian Maritime Authorities to proceed to the approximate position 33 54N / 013 46E participating in a Search and Rescue Operation. There was a rubber boat with about 100 persons onboard requiring immediate assistance. Vessel proceeded at full speed to their assistance.

During the Search and Rescue operation and while at position 34 12N / 013 47E on 15 October 2013 at 20:00 hrs lt located a rubber boat, gray colour with 93 persons onboard. Vessel stopped and picked up all refugees numbering 93 including a pregnant woman (nationalities Nigeria, Mali, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Somalia, Gambia).

On 15 October 2013 at 23:00 hrs lt, on completion of rescue operation and while in position 34 13N/013 48E, Master instructed by MRCC Rome to proceed at Siracusa, Italy to disembark the refugees.

Vessel arrived at Siracusa on 16 October 2013 at 18:00 hours and on completion of various formalities by Italian authorities, at 20:30 hours of same day departed to her destination Trieste having disembarked safely all refugees.
